Description

Cinnamon is a widely cherished spice known for its sweet, warm flavor and inviting aroma. It is derived from the inner bark of several tree species from the genus Cinnamomum. It has a rich history dating back thousands of years, with its origins in Sri Lanka, India, Bangladesh, and Myanmar. Today, it is also cultivated in several other tropical regions around the world. The two most popular types are Ceylon cinnamon (Cinnamomum verum), known as “true cinnamon,” and Cassia cinnamon (Cinnamomum cassia), which is more common and often simply referred to as cinnamon.
